  • XX Meeting of Geographies of Latin America and the Caribbean (XX EGALC)
    From June 16 to 20, 2025, Prof. Dr. Edilson Pereira Júnior (IGU CDES Steering Committee member) participated in the XX Meeting of Geographies of Latin America and the Caribbean (XX EGALC), held at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City. The conference was attended by more than 500 participants from 20 countries. Representing IGU CDES, the professor moderated thematic panels, participated in international meetings, presented abstracts, and published a book entitled "Geographies of Political Economy in Latin America."

  • IGU CDES at the 7th Global Conference on Economic Geography
    The 7th Global Conference on Economic Geography was held in Worcester (USA) from 4-8 June 2025. The event was attended by the Chair of the International Geographical Union Commission on the Dynamics of Economic Spaces and several members of its Steering Committee, who celebrated the 100th anniversary of the journal Economic Geography with hundreds of participants. The journal was founded at Clark University in 1925 and has been published there ever since. Several sessions of the conference dealt with the development of the world's leading economic geography journal.

  • Prof. Tadeusz Stryjakiewicz, the former member of the Steering Committee of IGU CDES celebrated his 70th birthday in October, which also marked the end of his 47 years' employment at the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland.
    For many years, Prof. Stryjakiewicz was the member (at that time called 'full member') of the Steering Committee of the IGU Commission on Industrial Change (1990-1992) and the IGU Commission on the Organisation of Industrial Space (1992-2000), and then a corresponding member of their successor - the IGU Commission on the Dynamics of Economic Spaces. On the occasion of the anniversary, a solemn ceremony was held at his alma mater, during which he was awarded a medal "Homini Vere Academico" in recognition of his service to the University.
